Afrodidact is a Belgian non-profit organisation. This page explains what personal data we collect through this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what rights you have. We collect only what we need to accept your donation, answer your question, and keep this site running.
No tracking cookies, no consent banner
This website does not use tracking or advertising cookies, and it does not build profiles of visitors. That is a deliberate choice: it is why you are not greeted by a cookie banner.
We measure visits with Umami, a cookieless analytics service. It records the page you viewed, the site you arrived from, and a coarse indication of country, browser and device type. It sets no cookies and reads nothing from your device. Rather than storing your IP address, it derives from it a hash that is rotated daily, so you cannot be recognised from one day to the next, and you are not followed onto other websites.
Fonts and images are served from our own server rather than from third-party content networks, so opening a page does not disclose your IP address to Google or to a content delivery network.
Strictly necessary cookies may be used for the donation flow (for example, to keep your session while you pay). These do not track you and are required for the site to function.
Data we collect when you donate
To process a donation we ask for your name, e-mail address, language and the amount. You may add a message and choose whether your name and message appear publicly on a campaign page. Donating anonymously is possible.
If you request a Belgian tax certificate, we additionally need your address and national registry number, because the tax authority requires them. If you request an invoice, we need your company name, VAT number and invoice address.
We keep this data for as long as the law requires us to (currently up to ten years for accounting and tax records), and then delete it.
Data we collect when you contact us
If you use the contact form we receive your name, e-mail address and message, so that we can reply. We keep that correspondence only as long as it is useful and then delete it.
Who we share data with
We never sell your data and we never share it for advertising. We do rely on a small number of service providers, each of which processes data only on our instructions:
- Mollie B.V. (Netherlands) handles the payment itself. Your card or bank details are entered with Mollie and never reach our servers.
- Sanity (content and donor records) stores the donation details described above.
- Maileroo sends the transactional e-mails, such as your donation confirmation.
- Hetzner (Germany) hosts this website and its server logs.
- Umami Software receives the cookieless visit statistics described above. It never receives your name, e-mail address or donation details.
We also pass the data required by law to the Belgian tax authority when you ask for a tax certificate.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, correct it, have it deleted, restrict or object to its use, or receive it in a portable form. Where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
Write to info@afrodidact.org and we will answer within one month. If you are not satisfied, you may lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be).
